JAKARTA - American gymnast Simone Biles will return to competition at the Tokyo Olympics for the final closing of the balance block event, which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3.

The US star's name was included in the list of eight finalists in the artistic gymnastics event in the balance block number released Monday.

Biles, a four-time Olympic champion, says she struggles with "twisties," a condition in which gymnasts lose the ability to orient themselves in the air.

"We are excited to confirm that you will see two US athletes in the balance beam finals tomorrow - Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!! Can't wait to watch you two!" said USA Gymnastics, quoted by Reuters from Reuters.

This will be the first time Biles has been seen competing in Tokyo. He pulled out of the team competition last Tuesday after a vault, citing mental health issues.

Biles then withdrew from the all-around final and three of the four finals -- artistic gymnastics floor, jumping stance and crossbar.

The 24-year-old gymnast needs at least five gold medals in Tokyo to match her record of nine golds for gymnastics in all-time Olympics.

In a post on social media last Friday, Biles revealed that he struggled with mental health during the Olympics.

"To anyone who said I quit. I didn't stop," she wrote on Instagram Story. "My mind and body are out of sync."
