Regret France Who Stopped The Football League Early

JAKARTA - The 2019-2020 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 seasons are declared to end on April 28 because the COVID-19 pandemic has not ended. But apparently, this decision was regretted by many parties.

Since then, other major European leagues have returned to rolling or at least planning to return to finish the 2019-2020 season.

As a result, several Ligue 1 clubs actively protested against the cancellation of the league. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was most outspoken against the decision.

With the termination of the season, Lyon automatically will not get a share in European competition next season. Whereas previously, Aulas asked for a play-off system to be implemented to determine who is eligible to play in UEFA competitions.

Meanwhile, the French government is sticking to their stance that the sport will not be played until September due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

"The stoppage (of the competition) took the club by surprise and now they are very sorry to see that Ligue 1 is the only club in Europe's top five leagues that will not return," L'Equipe journalist Antoine Maumon told MARCA.

The French Minister of Sports, said Maumon, also said that sport would not be a priority until the return to normality in France.

"It (football) is the only sector of the economy that does not have a plan for normality to return."

Paris-Saint Germain have been crowned champions, but now they must watch their fellow Champions League contenders finish the season in La Liga Santander, Bundesliga, Premier League and Serie A.
