JAKARTA - Italy national team coach Roberto Mancini insists he does not want his team to play conservatively and will continue to display their own style of play in the Euro 2020 quarter-final match against Belgium in Munich on Saturday morning.

Belgium arrived in the quarter-finals as FIFA's number one team and successfully knocked out defending Euro champions Portugal in the last 16.

Like Belgium, who won four games in a row at the Euros, Italy also has a similar achievement although they have just felt their goal conceded again against Austria ending their 11-match clean sheet.

Although not dismissing the quality and threat of Belgium, Mancini will not necessarily adopt a more conservative playing pattern for the Gli Azzurri.

"We will play our own style, of course with the awareness that we are facing the best team in the world right now," said Mancini.

"The fact that they have been at the top of the FIFA rankings for the last three years means they have consistently played great games over the long term, but we will continue to play our own style.

"We might have tweaked things during the game if things don't go according to plan, but we have our own style and so do Belgium.

"I'm sure it will be a fun football match. The winner is the team that made the fewest mistakes," he added.

Belgium's main threat comes from Romelu Lukaku, a figure familiar to Italy's back line, given that the 28-year-old forward won the Italian Serie A Player of the Year after leading Inter Milan to victory.

Throughout Euro 2020, Lukaku has scored three goals and has always been the spearhead of Roberto Martinez's choice in Belgium.

"We have great respect for Lukaku because he had a great season with Inter, and that is understood by our whole squad," said Italy captain and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.

"Throughout the season we have witnessed that he is a winner and an important player.

"But I think that saying Belgium is just Romelu Lukaku is something wrong, because they have quality players on all fronts. We will make preparations as usual, while guarding Lukaku and their other top players," concluded Chiellini.

If able to pass Belgium, Italy will face Switzerland or Spain in the semifinals.
