Deschamps Knows France Is Ready To Beat Germany

JAKARTA - France coach Didier Deschamps said his players were ready to fight from the start to win the first match of Group F Euro 2020 against Germany, Wednesday morning, at the Allianz Arena, Munich.

"We played a great match against a very good opponent. I already know my players are ready and we are ready to fight," said Didier Deschamps as quoted by Antara from the UEFA website on Wednesday.

Deschamps did not take lightly the 1-0 win that came with an own goal by German defender Mats Hummels, instead, he believed his team could have scored more goals.

"We didn't go very far to score the second goal that would have kept us safe, but we didn't suffer too much in the second half either. It was a strong game with quality and talent," continued Deschamps.

Midfielder Paul Pogba, who was named the 'star of the math' in that match, added that the strength of his team was to play compactly and focus on the field.

"We are focused on our job on the pitch. We know we have to prove our title as world champions and come off the pitch humbly. When we have to be under pressure we do it together and when we attack we do it together," Pogba said.

Regarding his coronation as the "star of the match", Pogba argued, "the team's performance is the most important. Without them, I would not have played as well as this. We all play a role."

Meanwhile, former Germany star and captain, Michael Ballack, said it was lucky Germany did not lose by a landslide score because France almost did it.

"Of course in the second half, France had two very good counter-attacking opportunities where luck was on our side. You can easily lose by two or three zeros. Mbappe was outstanding today," said Ballack.

France created two goals which were both ruled out for offside in a more exciting second half than the first half.
