JAKARTA - The Swiss national team must not repeat the mistakes against Italy in the second match of Group A Euro 2020 at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy, Wednesday, if they want to have a chance to win, midfielder Remo Freuler said.

The error Freuler referred to refers to the negligence of him and his colleagues during a 1-1 draw by Wales on Saturday, June 12 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

"Against Wales, we forgot a little bit of a tight guard at one point, we played a defensive line that was too low", Freuler said, quoted by Antara from Reuters.

"If we repeat it on Wednesday, it will be too easy for Italy. But if we play as usual, I think we can do something", he added.

Freuler admits that against Italy, Switzerland cannot expect the same flow of matches as against Wales, in terms of possession, for example.

"It will be a different game. We will never be able to dominate 70 percent of possession against Italy, as we did in Baku. Maybe 50-50 because these two teams will both fight", he said.

"We also can't play like Turkey and keep pushing at the back", added Freuler.

Switzerland currently only collects one point and in general has a relatively open chance of progressing to the last 16, either through the path of the top two teams in Group A or becoming one of the four best third-placed teams.
