Indonesian Gold Increases Through Men's Team Badminton

MANILA - Indonesia's gold coffers have increased again after the men's badminton team of the 2019 SEA Games won 3-1 over Malaysia in the final at the Muntilupa Sports Complex, Manila, Wednesday, December 4. So far, Indonesia has won a total of 14 gold medals.

Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira / Ade Yusuf, who participated in the fourth party, confirmed the gold medal for Indonesia by winning 21-16 and 21-19 over Ong Yew Sin / Teo Ee Yi.

"Alhamdulillah, Arya and I can answer the coach's trust. I dedicate this to all Indonesian people," said Ade, launching Antara.

According to Ade, he did not feel burdened when he appeared in the decisive fourth party.

"We just want to prove it. That we can. Like a test, we practiced the results of training and passed," continued Ade.

Meanwhile, Arya saw that the burden was on the opponent because if he lost, the gold would automatically fall off. Meanwhile, if he and Ade lose there is still hope from Shesar Hiren in the fifth party.

"Earlier we played well. The opponent also knows how to play. We have prepared the anticipation in practice," said Arya.

Arya / Ade's double victory completes Indonesia's three points of victory. Two previous points were contributed by Jonatan Cristie who defeated Lee Zii Jia in the first party and Anthony Ginting who won over Soong Joo Ven in the third party, while in the second party, Fajar Alfian surrendered to Aaron Chia Teng Fong / Soh Wooi Yik.

The badminton men's team gold medal is the sixth for Indonesia in a row. Previously, Indonesia won the first podium at the 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 SEA Games.
