Luis Enrique Calls Additional Players After Busquest Gets COVID-19, Still No Madrid Players

JAKARTA - Spain on Monday called in five additional players to help with parallel training for their national team following captain Sergio Busquets' positive test for COVID-19 last weekend.

The additional players are Rodrigo Moreno (Leeds United), Pablo Fornals (West Ham United), Carlos Soler (Valencia), Brais Mendez (Celta Vigo) and Raul Albiol (Villarreal). However, they will not stay at Spain's Las Rozas training base or be involved with the rest of the squad's preparations, which are currently self-isolating.

"As a result of the possible consequences of Sergio Busquets' positive test, the coaching staff decided to call up a group of players to complete training sessions over the next few days under the guidance of Luis Enrique in a parallel bubble," the Spain national team said in a statement.

Spain will face Lithuania in a friendly on Tuesday and in their opening Group E Euro 2020 match on Monday next week they face Sweden.

"After the game with Lithuania is over, a small, undetermined group of players will join in another training in a similar way to the newly formed group," the statement continued.
