JAKARTA - The official launch of Campus League Season 1 was held at UP at Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, Monday, April 20, 2026, as a strategic step in encouraging the development of the student sports ecosystem in Indonesia.
This competition is expected to be a platform for nurturing young talent as well as strengthening the synergy between the world of education and the national sports industry.
Campus League was initiated as a competitive league between universities that not only focuses on achievements, but also on the development of character, sportsmanship, and professionalism of young athletes.
In his remarks, Ryan Gozali as CEO of Campus League emphasized that this activity could be an important momentum to present a competitive experience on campus as a valuable investment for the formation of character and professional careers for young athletes.
"Statistics show that 99 percent of student athletes will not have a career as professional athletes. However, they have great potential to become superior professionals in various industrial sectors," said Ryan Gozali.
He also added that this competition is designed to create an integrated ecosystem, ranging from coaching, competitions, to career opportunities in the sports industry.
In addition, support from various parties, including the Government and sports organizations, is a key factor in the sustainability of the Campus League.
Cross-sector collaboration is considered capable of strengthening the foundation of national sports from the grassroots level, especially in the campus environment.
"The synergy between the government, campuses, and sports stakeholders is very important in creating a sustainable athlete training system," said Ryan.
This grand launch also marks the start of the Campus League Season 1 competition series which will involve various universities from across Indonesia. With a competitive and structured competition format, this league is expected to be able to produce potential athletes who are ready to compete at the national and international levels.
Not only focusing on the match, the Campus League will also present various supporting programs such as training, workshops, and athlete career development so as to provide added value for participants.
With the presence of the Campus League, it is hoped that campus sports will not only be extracurricular activities, but also an important part of the development of sustainable national sports achievements.
Campus League is based on three main pillars, namely academics, athletics, and affinity. These three foundations are designed so that the younger generation of Indonesia has a quality formal education, a strong physique, and high social sensitivity.
Inspired by The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States, Campus League has drafted a strategic roadmap in three long-term phases.
Phase 1 (2025-2028): Development of the ecosystem foundation, expansion of the reach of the host city, diversification of sports branches, and implementation of the Grand Champions system through the UniGames event. Phase 2 (2028-2029): Stabilization of the ecosystem through the home and away match system, integration of non-sport competitions across disciplines, and the opening of a path to international sports competitions. Phase 3 (2030-2034): Focus on sustainability and global expansion through the implementation of a closed league system, commercialization of healthy campus teams, and expansion of impact beyond the university ecosystem. As the culmination of Season 1, Campus League will hold UniGames, a national-scale multisports event between campus contingents that adopts the spirit of prestigious multi-events, such as the National Sports Week (PON) and the Olympics.
Located at Pelita Harapan University (UPH), Karawaci, Tangerang, UniGames will compete in additional sports branches including taekwondo, kempo, jujitsu, wrestling, billiards, women's football, 3X3 basketball, and athletics.
The Grand Champions title will be awarded to the campus with the most accumulated gold medals from the opening to the closing of the UniGames.
