Injury Forces Isyana/Rinjani to Withdraw from Swiss Open 2026

Isyana Syahira Meida must be absent at the 2026 Swiss Open due to injury (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - The women's doubles badminton player, Isyana Syahira Meida, suffered an injury so that she and her partner, Rinjani Kwinara Nastine, were confirmed to be absent in the 2026 BWF Super 300 Swiss Open which took place this week.

Karel Mainaky as the main women's doubles coach of the PBSI National Team in an official statement confirmed that Isyana suffered an injury to the right tibia which required time to rest and recovery.

"Based on the recommendation of the medical team, Isyana is temporarily unable to play so that she can focus on recovery," said Karel in a statement received by the media.

The decision of PBSI to withdraw the Isyana/Rinjani pair leaves Indonesia's women's doubles for the 2026 Swiss Open to Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, and Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

In addition to being absent in Switzerland, the pair is also confirmed to miss the BWF Super 300 Orleans Masters 2026 tournament. The tournament will take place from March 17-22, 2026 in Orleans, France.

"We don't want to take any risks that could aggravate his injury, so this decision was taken as a preventive measure as well as to ensure that the recovery goes well," said Karel.

Isyana will then undergo a physiotherapy program that focuses on pain management as well as strengthening and activating the lower limb muscles gradually.

After the condition is considered stable and ready, he will only return to undergo a gradual training program before returning to the match program.

The Swiss Open 2026 will take place from March 10-15 this week at the St. Jakobshalle, Basel. Indonesia has a total of 14 representatives who will perform there, consisting of three men's singles, one women's singles, three men's doubles, three women's doubles, and four mixed doubles.
