The Return Of Muller And Hummels In Germany Vs Denmark

JAKARTA - Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels made their first appearances for Germany since 2018. In the friendly match against Denmark which ended 1-1, Thursday, June 3, the two experienced players played from the start.

Muller and Hummels along with Jerome Boateng were exiled by Joachim Low because the coach wanted to give opportunities to young players. However, he is again calling out the first two names for this summer's Euro 2020 finals.

In that game, a Florian Neuhaus effort tested goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel early in the game and the goalkeeper then parried Mueller's header in the 13th minute.

Leroy Sane should have scored in the 27th minute when he was already unmarked in front of the Denmark goal but his shot went wide of goal.

Denmark again survived the German attack when Joshua Kimmich sent a low cross but three of his teammates couldn't reach the ball.

Serge Gnabry went even closer to scoring when his curling shot hit the post just before half-time. But three minutes after the second half started Neuhaus gave Germany a 1-0 lead.

The German back line was completely untouched by Denmark until the 71st minute when they finally broke when Christian Eriksen sent a pass which was passed by Yussuf Poulsen to beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and this was the only chance the Danes created.

Germany's Matthias Ginter also came close again but the ball hit the post six minutes later. Germany can no longer score goals despite changing a number of players.

Germany, who will face Latvia in their final warm-up on June 7, face world champions France in their Euro 2020 opener on June 15 and also reigning champions Portugal and Hungary in Group F.

Denmark face Bosnia on June 6 in their pre-Euro warm-up and kick off the Euros against Finland on June 12 and then Belgium and Russia in Group B all taking place in Copenhagen.
