BATC 2026 results: Indonesia Women's Team beat Hong Kong 4-1

JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's badminton team managed to secure a landslide victory over Hong Kong in the first match of the Group X qualifying round of the Badminton Asia Team Championship or Badminton Asia Team Championship (BATC) 2026.

The series of matches for the Indonesian women's team took place at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, afternoon WIB. Indonesia also locked in a victory with a score of 4-1 over the opponent.

The only point that Indonesia failed to get was in the first women's singles, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan. She surrendered against Lo Sin Yan Happy in a two-game match that ended with a score of 21-23 and 19-21.

"It's a pity that I can't contribute points for Indonesia, for my brothers. I got valuable experience and lessons from today's match," said Thalita after the match.

Indonesia then tied the score when the first women's doubles, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, played in the second match. The pair stopped Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam with a score of 21-16 and 21-19.

Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari who came down as the second women's singles also did not encounter any obstacles at all to bring Indonesia back to the lead. He was able to win two games after coming out of the pressure in the second game against Samirbhai Mehta which ended with a score of 21-11 and 22-20.

The other two points for Indonesia were contributed by the women's doubles Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum and the women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo.

Rachel/Febi fought three games to beat the pair of Lui Lok Lok/Tsang Hiu Yan with a score of 21-23, 21-18, and 21-11, while Ester beat Wong Yi in two straight games 21-17 and 21-14.

This match marked Ester's return to the competitive arena. The player from Papua was previously absent for a long time since the Taipei Open in May last year due to a fracture in the right tibia.

"Praise God, I am also grateful to be able to return to the field. This is my first match. I am quite happy to contribute points to the team," said Ester.

Ester and her friends will then face a tough test against Japan on Thursday, February 5, 2026. On paper, the two countries have a fairly balanced strength.
