JAKARTA - Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius ended his two-year loan spell at Besiktas. Karius found no agreement regarding his salary.

Karius has been playing in the Turkish Super League since August 2018. He announced the end of his stay in an Instagram post on Monday, May 4, saying it was "very unfortunate it ended like this".

The 26-year-old will return to Anfield after making 67 appearances for Besiktas in all competitions.

Karius reported Besiktas to FIFA last month. This is the second time the German goalkeeper has done this because the club has not paid his wages.

Karius's departure ended a stay that was previously thought to end in a permanent transfer.

"You have to know that I have tried everything to solve this situation without any problems," Karius added in his post, which was accompanied by videos of some unforgettable moments with Besiktas.

"I have been very patient for months telling the board over and over again. The same thing happened last year.

"Unfortunately they have not tried to solve this situational problem and have even rejected my suggestion of cutting my salary."

Karius, who joined Liverpool from Mainz in 2016, expressed his gratitude to the Besiktas players, coaching staff and supporters.

"It's important to me that you know I really enjoy playing for this club," he said.

"Besiktas can be proud to have fans who are so passionate about supporting them in such an extraordinary way. You have always supported me in good and bad times and I will always remember you in the best way!

"Also I want to thank all my teammates, the coaching staff, including everyone who works for the club. You have welcomed me with wide open arms from day one - thank you very much!"
