Fernando Alonso Praises Marc Marquez's Mental: Not Owned by Ordinary Athletes

JAKARTA - Fernando Alonso considers Marc Marquez's mental and discipline to be above average, surpassing the capacity of ordinary humans and other athletes so that he can make extraordinary achievements to win the 2025 MotoGP title.

The Spanish Formula 1 racer said that Marquez's dominance with the Ducati Factory team in the course of this year was almost impossible after the serious injury he suffered since the accident in Jerez in 2020.

"It's incredible. In addition to natural talent, you have to have incredible mental strength and discipline. No normal person can do what Marc achieved," he said in the latest documentary produced by DAZN.

After leaving Honda and undergoing a proving season with the Satelit Gresini team in 2024, Marquez immediately showed his capacity so that he was trusted to strengthen the Manufacturer team and win the seventh title in the premier class.

Alonso said that Marquez was an anomaly in the world of sports. He assessed that a rider's toughest test actually came off the track, when he had to maintain motivation in the midst of injuries, motor limitations, and a long title fast.

"You have to wake up every day, go to the gym, train for hours alone, and talk to yourself to remind you that you are still the same person as the world champion in the past," said Alonso.

Marquez sealed the 2025 title in the 17th round in Japan. He then injured himself at the next Grand Prix in Indonesia and had to miss the last four rounds.

However, the rider nicknamed Baby Alien closed the season at the top of the final standings with a collection of 545 points or 78 points ahead of his brother Alex Marquez who finished in second place.

This year's world title makes Marquez equal with his rival Valentino Rossi. Overall, the two have collected nine world championship titles, seven of which they can get in MotoGP.
