Jake Paul confirmed that he suffered a very serious jaw fracture in two places when he suffered a knockout defeat (KO) against two-time world champion Anthony Joshua at the weekend.

Paul climbed into the ring to challenge Joshua at the Kaseya Center, Miami, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. In the clash, Paul did not put up much resistance before being knocked down by Joshua in the sixth round.

"Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo (Alvarez) in 10 days," Paul wrote on a screenshot of the X (formerly Twitter) social media post after the match.

Paul was knocked down several times, once in the fifth and once in the sixth round. He was also staggered before Joshua landed a hard shot that forced him to fall and could not get up before the jury's count was complete.

After the defeat, Paul was immediately taken to the hospital for a successful broken jaw surgery. The serious injury made him unable to attend the press conference after the match.

Nikisa Bidarian as CEO of Most Valuable Promotions said that Paul was in stable condition. He emphasized that injuries like those suffered by Paul are common in the world of fighting such as boxing or mixed martial arts.

"According to the doctors and surgeons we have contacted, the recovery time is estimated to be around four to six weeks," Bidarian said as quoted by Sky Sport.

Paul barely managed to land a punch in the fight which was scheduled to last eight rounds. However, he showed commendable strength by surviving until the sixth round despite being hit with a barrage of attacks from Joshua.

This is the first fight for Joshua after he suffered a KO defeat against Daniel Dubois in September last year at Wembley Stadium, London, England.

After the victory against Paul, the London 2012 Olympic gold medalist immediately targeted a duel against his compatriot Tyson Fury - a fight that many boxing fans are waiting for.
