Putri KW Beware Of Myanmar In The First Match Of The 2025 SEA Games

JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardani refused to underestimate Myanmar in the first match of the women's team at the 2025 SEA Games.

The draw for the team match at the biennial multi-pronged sporting event was officially held on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The women's team went through the journey from the final quarter, while the men got an empty draw so they went straight to the semifinals.

On paper, the Indonesian women's team is certainly far more favored to win and to the semifinals. However, Putri, who is the first women's single in the team, did not want to feel superior.

"From the team itself, we must be sure to win against Myanmar tomorrow in the quarter-finals, but we must not underestimate because they have a pretty good women's singles," said Putri.

Putri will most likely play in tomorrow's match. If she goes down, she will definitely face Thet Htar Thuzar, who is the singles daughter of the mainstay of the opponent's country.

The badminton player who was born in Tangerang admitted that he was nervous because this was his first experience as the first female single in the Indonesian women's team team team.

"Now it's really the first single. It's a bit tense because in the team, the first opening is enough to determine if the team goes down. If they can win, the rest can be more confident," he said.

The Head of Binpres Pelatnas PBSI Eng Hian is optimistic that Indonesia should be able to penetrate the semifinals against Myanmar so that he warned of the possibility of fighting Malaysia at that stage.

"Tomorrow the women's team will meet Myanmar and when they see in the semifinals it looks like they will meet Malaysia. Of course we will map this from the meeting record to find out who will go down," he said.

The 2025 SEA Games badminton match will be held at the Gymnasium 4 Thammasat University Rangsit Campus on December 7'10 for team numbers, and December 11' 14 for individual numbers.
