Oleksandr Usyk Wants To Clashe With Deontay Wilder

Oleksandr Usyk suddenly expressed his desire to fight Deontay Wilder (Instagram/@usykaa).

JAKARTA Oleksandr Usyk is interested in defending his world heavyweight title against Deontay Wilder, who immediately welcomed the plan.

The boxer from Ukraine currently holds the WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight belts. His future was a question before he broke the silence with the desire to fight Wilder.

"I want to fight against Deontay Wilder. I think this is interesting. He is a former world champion, he is very famous, he is a strong man."

"He is one of the best heavyweight boxers in the last 10 years," Usyk said as quoted by Sky Sport.

Tit for tat. Wilder, who returned to the ring with TKO's seventh round victory against Jerrell Anthony Herndon in June 2025, immediately opened up to organize the fight against Usyk.

"Usyk is a great champion. We have plans for next year. We want Oleksandr Usyk to be part of that plan. If we accept the right offer, we will open ourselves up to the fight," said Shelly Finkel as Wilder's co-manager.

Usyk has not fought again since the knockout (KO) victory over Daniel Dubois in their rematch in July 2025. He was injured and failed to undergo a mandatory match for the WBO belt.

The win against Dubois saw the gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics become the undisputed world heavyweight champion for the second time after previously he had the status after beating Tyson Fury last year.

The 38-year-old unbeaten boxer then vacated the WBO belt last week and Fabio Wardley of England was designated the real world champion.

Usyk then promised to reunite the four main titles in the future. He is still confident in winning the fight to become the third undisputed.

"Some people say I am no longer the undisputed champion. Yes, it is only temporary," he said.

On the other hand, Wilder is a former WBC world champion. He lost the title against Fury in 2020 and then failed to snatch it in their rematch the following year.
