This Week Becomes The New Round Of PSSI Hunting Looking For New Indonesian National Team Coach

JAKARTA - Five new Indonesian national team coaches have been pocketed by PSSI. This week is a new chapter because the federation will conduct an interview process for each candidate.

This was previously conveyed by the Chairman of the PSSI National Team (BTN), Sumardji. Although five new coach candidates and the location and timing to be precise in the interview process, Sumardji ensured that the stage would be accompanied directly by the PSSI Technical Director, Alexander Zwiers.

"Regarding these five coaches, we and coach Alexander (Zwiers) together with the appointed Exco (PSSI Executive Committee), one of them may be me, asked to have an interview, yes. We will do it maybe next weeks," said Sumardji in a press conference session at the PSSI office in the middle of last week.

Of the five candidates mentioned, there are three names that have recently been formulated as candidates for the Garuda Squad concoction.

There are former coaches of the Uzbekistan national team, namely Timur Kapadze, Heimir Hallgrimsson - an Icelandian coach who has now succeeded in bringing the Irish national team through the 2026 World Cup playoffs in the European Zone - and Jesus Casas who is a coach from Spain and previously led Iraq.

Apart from these three names that are widely known, Sumardji is still closing the actual data meeting. However, he emphasized that of the five candidates being discussed, PSSI would vote objectively.

He ensured that the person who was later given the mandate to handle the Indonesian national team was the best figure based on a thorough assessment.

"Of course, of the five names, we will definitely choose the very best, yes, the very best," he said.
