5 Indonesian Representatives Appear In BWF World Tour Finals 2025

JAKARTA Indonesia is certain to send five representatives to the BWF World Tour Finals 2025 which will take place in Hangzhou, China, in December 2025.

The Australian Open 2025 semifinal match which took place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, made Indonesia managed to get two additional tickets to the event which only involved the top players.

The first ticket was obtained by the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri after defeating their compatriot Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh. Reza Pahlevi Isfahani to the final.

"Alhamdulillah, I was able to go to the final and qualify for the World Tour Finals. There was never a target when I started a couple with Fikri. This feels very extraordinary," Fajar said in a statement.

Fajar/Fikri actually had a slim hope of being able to appear in the tournament. The reason is, the first condition is that they must reach the final in Australia and come out as champions.

However, champions alone are not enough for them. That's if their competitors in Road to Hangzhou can go to the semifinals then the highest podium in Sydney has no meaning anymore.

Fortunately, no one who has a chance to China can enter the top four of the tournament. Therefore, Fajar/Fikri only need to go to the final in Australia to lock up the BWF World Tour Finals 2025 ticket.

The second BWF World Tour Finals ticket belongs to the Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha mixed doubles Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, who also needs to go to the final in Australia to secure it.

"This is an opportunity that we have been waiting for in the last few matches, we also think a lot every time we want to play. Finally, we passed, relieved and felt free," said Felisha.

The three tickets that were previously pocketed by Indonesia belonged to Jonatan Christie, Putri Kusuma Wardani, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
