Carlos Alcaraz Comeback Stop Fritz At ATP Finals

JAKARTA Carlos Alcaraz managed to turn things around to beat Taylor Fritz in the 2025 ATP Finals group stage match in Turin, Italy.

The Spaniard recorded victories with a score of 6-7(2/7), 7-5, and 6-3 on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This result makes Alcaraz only one step away from securing the world number one position at the end of the season.

"I'm very happy to be able to get up and find my best game again. I'm just trying to take advantage of the opportunities he gave. We played great matches with lots of good rallies," said Alcaraz.

Alcaraz could actually confirm the place in the semifinals if Alex de Minaur won over Lorenzo Musetti in the next match. However, the opposite happened, Musetti instead won over De Minaur 7-5, 3-6, and 7-5.

Alcaraz, who lost the world's top position from Jannik Sinner after the Paris Masters 2025, will close the season as the world number one if they beat Musetti on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sinner must defend his title at the ATP Finals without defeat in order to still have a chance to close the season in the top position.

"I'll try not to think too much about it. The next game will be huge," Alcaraz said.

This victory made Alcaraz lead 5-1 in a record meeting with Fritz. Fritz's only win over Alcaraz took place at the Laver Cup event in September 2025.
