Indra Sjafri Afri Affirms No Special Players In The U-23 Indonesian National Team, All Objective Assessments

Indra Sjafri will objectively select the players of the U-23 Indonesian national team (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi Sasono).

JAKARTA - The U-23 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, firmly stated that no players will be treated specially in the training camp (TC) ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

He stressed that all players in the squad will be treated equally. Later, players who enter the main squad will also be chosen based on an objective assessment based on data and performance, not from reputation.

"We just had a class session. Thank you all the players present, there is no difference in treatment, everything is equally important."

"I hope that players who have played in the senior (Indonesian National Team) will become an important pillar of building this team," said Indra after training at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Indra Sjafri also explained that the second phase of the TC went according to the roadmap that had been prepared and approved by PSSI and Kemenpora.

The coach also said that in this preparation, there were a number of diaspora players who had joined and some would follow later.

"First, I would like to thank PSSI for this second phase of TC. PSSI has also communicated with foreign clubs."

"Today a number of abroad players have arrived and there will be more who will follow," he said.

Pada agenda TC kali ini, sudah ada 33 pemain yang bergabung, tiga di antaranya merupakan pemain baru yang berkarier di Super League Greece 2 (liga level kedua Merek) dan Philippines Football League (liga level utama Filipina). Ketiganya adalah Reycredo Beremanda, Muhammad Mishbah, dan Luke Xavier Keet.

"We gave these three additional players a chance. They already have an Indonesian ID card. We were asked to see it directly, but we don't have time. I don't want to be scattered," he said.

For the selection process, Indra Sjafri also emphasized that the process would be carried out objectively. In the near future, the team will also undergo an internal match to assess the contribution of each player.
