JAKARTA The young Indonesian swimmer, Adellia, won the gold medal in the women's 200-meter breaststroke in the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG).

Adellia performed outstanding with a record time of two minutes 32.24 seconds to lead Pinar Donmez from Turkey (2:32.91 seconds) and representative Lynn El Hajj from Lebanon (2:33.93 seconds) at the Olympic Pool Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This is the first gold medal for the Indonesian swimming team as well as a special gift for Adellia who will celebrate her 21st birthday on November 18, 2025.

"From the start, I didn't target anything because the body was not fit and the trip to the pool took almost two hours," Adellia said in a statement.

Adellia's achievement also completed the positive results of the Indonesian swimming team on the third day of the Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 which also contributed one silver and one bronze.

The silver medal was won by the mixed 4 x 100 meters medley relay through the action of Farrell Armandio Tangkas, Muhammad Dwiky Raharjo, Azzahra Permatahani, and Nadia Aisha Nurazmi. Flairene Candrea added bronze in the women's 100 meters backstroke.

The head coach of the Indonesian swimming team, Albert Christiandi Sutanto, acknowledged Adellia's success as a sweet surprise.

"We initially caught Flairene more, but Adelia actually appeared very calm and confident. This is the result of her hard work and consistency during the national training," said Albert.

Until now, Indonesia is in fifth place in the standings for the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games provisional medals with four gold, 11 silver, and three bronze medals.
