JAKARTA Daniil Medvedev managed to end the 882-day wait to return to the top of the highest podium at the Almaty Open 2025 tennis event in Kazakhstan.
The former world number one won the title from the tournament thanks to a win over Corentin Moutet from France with a final score of 7-5, 4-6, and 6-3 on Sunday, October 19, 2025, WIB night.
This victory is special for the tennis player from Russia because he came with his wife, Daria Medvedeva, and his two daughters, Alisa and Victoria.
"This is the first time I have participated in a tournament with my two daughters and my wife. So, getting this title is really extraordinary," Medvedev said as quoted by ATP.

The 29-year-old last climbed the highest podium at the ATP Roma Open 1000 Masters event in 2023 by beating the Danish Holger Rune.
After his victory in the Italian capital, Medvedev went through bitter seasons. He was recorded to have lost in the finals of the US Open 2023, Beijing Open 2023, Vienna Open 2023, Australia Open 2024, Indian Wells 2024, and Halle Open 2025.
"I gave this title to my second daughter, Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter, Alisa, was born was for her. So, this title is for Victoria," Medvedev said.
Medvedev's latest win has recorded 21 titles in 21 different tournaments.
Medvedev's performance had declined in this year's calendar. He was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open, then died in the first round in the next three Grand Slam tournaments, namely Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
An unfavorable result was triggered by difficulties in his service. He then left the world's top 10 and separated from his old coach Gilles Cervara.
