Denmark Open 2025: Fajar/Fikri Follow Jonathan's Traces

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri stepped into the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Men's doubles Fajar Alfian/ Muhammad Shohibul Fikri penetrated the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2025, following the footsteps of Jonatan Christie's men's singles.

The seventh seed remained in the tournament after winning two easy games 21-8 and 21-15 against England's men's doubles, Ben Lane/Sean Vendy, at Jyske Bank Arena on Friday, October 17, 2025.

"It's nice to be back in the semifinals, consistently qualifying for the final rounds. This is our motivation to be even better. Hopefully we can show back a good game (in the semifinals)," said Fajar.

This is Fajar/Fikri's fourth semifinal in the five tournaments they have played as a couple since the Japan Open in July 2025.

In the previous three semifinals, they managed to penetrate the final round twice, each of which resulted in one title at the China Open and one runner-up at the Korea Open 2025.

Fajar/Fikri will continue to meet with the fifth seed from China, Liang Wei Kencang/Wang Chang, who escaped after beating Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub Azriyn/Tan Wee Kiong (Malaysia).

"Tomorrow (Saturday, October 18, 2025) we will face Liang/Wang, we cannot be jumawa because we are winning a 2-0 meeting record. On the other hand, we must be vigilant, stay focused on the field and don't think too far," said Fikri.

Fajar/Fikri's previous two victories over the world number four pair took place in the semifinals of the China Open and the round of 16 of the 2025 China Masters.

Fajar/Fikri and Jonatan are the two remaining Indonesian representatives in this tournament. One other pair who failed the last four were Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat.

Rian/Rahmat had to lift the suitcase after losing to the former world number one from India, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, in a fierce match of three games 15-21, 21-18, and 16-21.
