JAKARTA The Court of Arbitration Sports (CAS) will immediately announce the results of an appeal for the visa of Israeli athletes rejected by the Indonesian Government for the 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta.

The Israeli Gymnastics Federation (IGF) previously filed an appeal after the visa of six of their athletes was rejected by Indonesia for failing to appear in the World Gymnastics Championships or 53rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025 on 19-25 October.

The appeal has been received by CAS and a decision regarding the fate of six Israeli athletes will soon be announced on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

"The GIS demands that CAS force the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (PB Persani) to ensure the participation of the Israeli team in the World Championships or move or cancel this championship," a CAS spokesman said.

The 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championship is expected to be attended by more than 500 athletes from 79 countries. Israeli athletes are reportedly among those who will compete.

However, when approaching the event, Indonesia decided to refuse their visa as a form of support for Palestine and the condemnation of genocide in Gaza.

The Executive Board of the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (PB Persani) in a press conference on Friday last week said that the FIG officially supported Indonesia's attitude.

"Today's FIG officially stated by phone call to me that it supports the Indonesian Government's decision," said PB Persani General Chair, Ita Yuliati.

This is not the first time Indonesia has rejected Israel. Previously in July 2023, Indonesia withdrew to host the Coastal Sports World Championships (Association of National Olympic Committees) after a controversy over Israel's participation.

In March of the same year, Indonesia also had to lose the right to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup after deciding to refuse Israeli participation.
