Australian Golfer Wade Ormsby Wins Champion In JAKIC 2025 Debut Series

JAKARTA - Wade Ormsby managed to secure himself as the champion at the inaugural Jakarta International Championship (JAKIC) 2025. The Australian golfer won the title after stopping Scott Vincent (ZWE)'s resistance in the play-off sudden death.

Both of them had to fight again in the play-offs after both recorded a total score of 268 (12-spar). However, Ormsby was able to overcome Vincent in just one hole fight.

Vincent's hunt for his first title in Indonesia had to run aground after the blow the two entered the water next to the green. Ormsby, who had the advantage of 1 blow, was finally able to win his International Series debut which took place at Damai Indah Golf Pantai Indah Kapuk Golf Course on Sunday, October 5.

The 2025 Jakarta International Championship title will be Orsmby's fifth title at the Asian Tour and his second trophy at the International Series (IS). His IS first trophy was won at the 2023 International Series Thailand. This victory also became very meaningful for Ormsby.

This is a special moment for me. Because I've never played good golf again. After a few months off, I worked hard last week. I met my coach, Grant Field. We spent a day trying to get my form back. Even though I didn't play the best golf this week, I putt well at the start of the tournament," said Wade Ormsby.

The day before the final, Ormsby was awarded a penalty which resulted in his lead with 12-below-par reducing to 11-below-par. He also shared a place with Gagan Mariju Bhullar (IND) and Vincent at the top of the leaderboard.

The penalty occurred because Ormsby was considered to have moved the ball on purpose when setting up in hole 4 in the third round yesterday. However, Ormsby was able to overcome his emotions so he could win the title at JAKIC 2025.

"It's disappointing, you know, that's how it is. However, I reset it last night, and I feel fine about it. I'm happy to be in the last group, so it hasn't changed. I just had to go out and forget about it, then use it as motivation to finish my job today," said Ormsby.
