PSIM Kandang Match Resigns, This Is What Coach Van Gastel Did

YOGYAKARTA PSIM Yogyakarta canceled holding a Super League cage match against PSBS Biak which was supposed to be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul.

The match was officially postponed to December 30, 2025 at 19.00 WIB at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul. Rescheduling is carried out by the operator of the League, ILeague, specifically for all matches in the eighth week of the Super League.

The decision was taken to maximize the preparation of the Indonesian national team for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

The schedule for the retreat was indeed not profitable for PSIM. The reason is, Laskar Mataram is actually on fire and they are chasing their first win at home. However, coach Jean-Paul Van Gastel understands that the league schedule has been delayed.

"I can understand the association's intent, that they want to give the national team a little more time," Van Gastel said.

"For us, it could be a little uncomfortable because we are in a positive trend. However, I can understand that decision," he said further.

Meanwhile, the manager of the Razzi Taruna club said that PSIM supports the decision. PSIM fully supports the decision of the League. We also definitely want the best for the national team on FIFA Match Day. The team will also take a few days off.

Adjustment of Training Program

With the change in the home match schedule followed by the FIFA Match Day holiday break, Razzi said PSIM had made a series of adjustments to the training program agenda.

We will take a day off for a few days. Maybe three or four days. Next we maximize it to keep training at the break. The main program is to maintain fitness," said Razzi.

He revealed that there will be a trial plan during the competition holidays. "Because we will not play long enough, we will insert a trial there so that the feeling of the match is maintained," he said.

Until the end of the whole seventh week of matches, PSIM was in a positive trend. In the last match, they detained the host PSM Makassar 0-0 so that it could move up to second in the standings.

"The important thing is that we have to be consistent and never be satisfied and careless. This is a good start, but we continue to make improvements to be consistent," said the Razzi.
