Emil Audero Injured His Calf at Club, Questioning His Chances of Playing for the Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Indonesian national team goalkeeper Emil Audero reportedly suffered an injury while playing for his club, Cremonese, in the 2025/2026 Serie A match. His chances of playing for the Garuda Squad are now in question.

Emil Audero's injury occurred before kickoff for the Como vs. Cremonese match on Saturday, September 27, 2025, or Sunday, September 28, 2025, early morning of Western Indonesian Time (WIB), at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium.

Before the match, Emil Audero was listed as Cremonese's starting lineup. However, Marco Silvestri was instead seen guarding the newly promoted club's goal.

Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb reported that Emil Audero had a muscle problem and had to be substituted. However, Silvestri confirmed that the Indonesian national team goalkeeper was not playing due to a calf injury.

"I didn't expect to play, even though I knew Audero had a small problem with his calf. However, I'm quite calm."

"I'm old enough. I've played a lot in Serie A. I've been playing football for quite a while."

"The most important thing is the hard work you put in every day in training. I train as if I were going to play on Sunday, that's the key. It's not about being on or off; I'm always ready," Silvestri said of being Emil Audero's backup, as quoted on Monday, September 29, 2025.

However, it's unclear whether Emil Audero will continue to play for the Indonesian national team in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. There has been no confirmation from the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) or Cremonese.

On the other hand, Emil Audero's chances of playing for the Garuda squad against Saudi Arabia and Iraq in October 2025 are still open, as he only suffered a minor calf injury.

Emil's hopes of playing for the Garuda squad are very much alive if he is in good condition. So far, he has been a mainstay for coach Patrick Kluivert on the Indonesian national team.

Audero has guarded the Indonesian goal in the last two matches due to Maarten Paes's accumulation and injury.
