Dito Feels Relieved By The Ministry Of Youth And Sports Led By Erick Thohir

JAKARTA The former Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo was relieved that the seat of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) he left due to a reshuffle was now led by Erick Thohir.

Dito and Erick have just handed over positions at the Office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, afternoon WIB.

In his remarks, Dito said that Erick was the right person to become a succession of himself in the chair of the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports because his experience in the world of sports was already very rich.

"I am relieved because my successor is a person whose sports world does not need to be questioned anymore. Friends of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, I am his main education in the world of sports. So, his styles are similar, but maybe more fierce," said Dito.

The politician from Golkar who has led the Ministry of Youth and Sports since the Joko Widodo administration was officially kicked out of his seat earlier this month. A number of names had appeared to be his successors before President Prabowo Subianto decided to appoint Erick.

Dito admitted that he was also grateful because while filling in the Red and White Cabinet he was supported by Taufik Hidayat in the representative position. He said the national badminton legend was a very upright figure.

"Although we have different opinions, we have finished everything with discussion and cohesiveness. So, Mr. Erick must be grateful to have a Deputy Minister who is upright and very supportive," said Dito.

After occupying the Kemenpora seat, a number of important agendas in the year have been waiting. One of the closest is the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand which will take place later this year.

In addition to the biennial sporting event, Indonesia is also preparing for the single event of the Gymnastics World Championship, which will take place in October 2025 at the Indonesia Arena, Senayan.

In the near future, Indonesia will also hold a MotoGP racing event at the Mandalika Circuit, which this year is entering its fourth edition after being held for the first time in 2022.
