Iraqi Star Has Pocketed The Strength Of The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - The star of the Iraqi National Team (Timnas), Amir Al Ammari, admitted that he had pocketed the strength of the Indonesian national team ahead of the clash in the Fourth Round of the 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification.

This was stated by Al Ammari after he and his team had two FIFA Matchday trial matches in September 2025 titled King's Cup 2025. On that agenda, Iraq successfully defeated Hong Kong 2-1 and Thailand 1-0.

For Al Ammari, the match against Thailand on the FIFA Matchday agenda is an important match. You see, for him the strength of the White Elephant Team is not much different from the Indonesian national team which he considers enough to provide an overview for the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

"The Thai national team has many qualities in common with Indonesia, our opponents in the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Therefore, we now have a clear picture of the team we will face in the playoffs."

We underwent two very important tests against Hong Kong and Thailand, especially against the home team and fan opponents, who appeared very strong and played at a high level," Al Ammari was quoted as saying by Winwin, Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Even though he admitted that he had a picture to fight the Garuda Squad, Al Ammari realized that the Indonesian national team was not an easy opponent to beat.

Although the records on Iraqi paper have always won over Indonesia in the last eight meetings, including in the Second Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, he did not want to underestimate the Garuda Team.

"Kami menyadari bahwa pertandingan playoff tidak dengan tidak ada tim yang mudah. Karena itu, kami akan lebih baik ketika kami bertanding," ucap Al Ammari.

Iraq is scheduled to face the Indonesian national team on October 11, 2025, after which against the host Saudi Arabia on October 14, 2025.

Al Ammari is confident that Iraq can qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

"We believe in our ability to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. The Iraqi team has all the capital to succeed, from players to technical staff. We all work hard and continue to give our best," said Al Ammari.
