Onana Wants To Leave Manchester United, Agrees To Be Loaned To Trabzonspor

JAKARTA - Andre Onana approached a move as a loan player to Trabzonspor after deciding to leave Manchester United.

The goalkeeper will travel to Turkey on Thursday, September 11, 2025, after defending Cameroon in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Cape Verde on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, western Indonesia time.

He is expected to complete the transfer of loans during the season to Trabzonspor according to the final details agreed with Manchester United.

Launching ESPN, no loan fees are involved or options for making permanent displacements. This means Onana, which has a contract until 2028, will return to Old Trafford next summer.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper previously wanted to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United. However, when the Red Devils brought in Senne Lammens from Antwerp on the last day of the transfer market, he finally decided to leave because there was no guarantee about his playing minutes.

Onana also has concerns that she will also lose to Altay Bayindir after head coach Ruben Amorim opted for the Turk for three Premier League games earlier this season against Arsenal, Fulham, and Burnley.

The former Ajax goalkeeper accepted Amoram's decision to leave him in his 0-1 defeat to Arsenal in the opening week of the league, after he missed the entire pre-season schedule due to a hamstring injury.
