JAKARTA Naomi Osaka managed to maintain her revival at the US Open 2025 by eliminating the 11th seed, Karolina Muchova, to reach the semifinals.

The 27-year-old sealed a straight set of 6-4 and 7-6 (7-3) wins over the Czech Republic at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Flushing Meadows, United States, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, noon western Indonesia time.

"This means a lot to me. So much hard work you don't know. I thank the team and are happy to be fit," said Osaka as quoted by ESPN.

This is Osaka's first semifinal in Flushing Meadows since winning there five years ago. In addition, this is also her first semifinals on the WTA tour since officially becoming a mother.

Osaka, who already has four collections of Grand Slam titles in her career, has not played for approximately 14 months since giving birth to her daughter Shai in July 2023.

"I sat there watching and hoping to get the opportunity to play on this field again. It felt like my dream came true," said Osaka.

This is Osaka's first quarter-final match in the Grand Slam event since she won the Australian Open 2021 at Melbourne Park.

Osaka's latest win also increased her winning record to 5-0 in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam event for all hard fields.

Defeating Muchova was Osaka's sixth straight win at the tour level against WTA top 20, which equaled the longest career record from 2019 to 2020.

Osaka will next face host Amanda Anisimova, who surprised the world number two from Poland, Iga Swiatek, to reach the semifinals.
