Psg Can Afford Neymar's Salary Of £515m A Year, Barca Not

JAKARTA - Barcelona feel exploited by Neymar. Despite their best efforts to convince him to return to the Camp Nou, the Brazilian recently signed a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain that will keep him until 2025.

The Catalans have sent representatives to the French capital to speak to their former players, but now he will extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

Brazilian web service UOL revealed that the main reason for his contract renewal was because he had full confidence in the club's commitment to invest in the squad as they continued their efforts to win the Champions League.

After losing in the semi-finals this season and last year's final, Neymar is happy with the progress they have made.

Another reason is finance. He knows that PSG are one of the few clubs that can afford to pay his salary of 30 million euros (around Rp515 billion) per year, something Barcelona simply cannot do.

Neymar and his family are very satisfied with the offer offered, and the player now hopes Kylian Mbappe will follow in his footsteps by renewing his contract.

"I am very happy to extend my contract with Paris until 2025," Neymar told PSG's official website.

"Actually I am very happy to be part of the club's project, to try and win the title, to try and achieve our greatest dream which is the Champions League."

PSG have spent around 1.3 billion euros on new player spending since being taken over by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in the 2011–12 season and they have won seven of the last nine Ligue 1 titles.

"The essence of our ambitious project to develop PSG is the heart, talent and dedication of our players," said PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi.

"We are thrilled to see it continue as part of our project and with us for many years to come."

Meanwhile, coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed his happiness at being able to coach Neymar for longer.

'I think today the whole PSG family is happy that Neymar has extended his contract.'

Neymar has scored 85 goals in 112 appearances for PSG, winning a number of trophies including three league titles.
