JAKARTA - The postponement of the 2020 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua is just a matter of time. Kemenpora is still waiting for President Jokowi's blessing.

Menpora Zainudin Amali held a working meeting (Raker) with Commission X DPR, last Tuesday, April 14. One of the Raker decisions point number 2 is: Commission X DPR RI urges the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports to postpone the implementation of the XX PON 2020 and establishes a certainty for the time, date, month and year of implementation, while continuing to develop PON XX infrastructure and continue to maintain venues that are currently and have built with due observance of the Covid-19 Health Protocol.

Even though there has been a decision made by the meeting, PON 2020 is still on schedule until now. The postponement of the 2020 PON will be decided in a cabinet meeting with President Jokowi. However, the time is still being found.

"I have asked the Cabinet Secretariat to schedule it," said the minister as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"But before that it needs to be conveyed that the condition with the COVID-19 outbreak, the work there, although there are still roads, some have stopped. Meanwhile, many workers who work on venues or lodging places come from outside Papua," continued Zainudin.

"We have also had discussions with KONI, from the Regional Sports and KONI Management to be postponed, and aspirations for this delay came from various parties. by the President. Hopefully in the near future there will be a decision regarding the 2020 PON itself. "
