Persib Learns Valuable Lessons After Facing Western Sydney Wanderers in Preseason

Persib Bandung played a pre-season match against Western Sydney Wanderers (Australia) (doc. Persib).

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung has a strong foundation ahead of the 2025/2026 Super League season after a 1-0 win in a preseason match against Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers. Coach Bojan Hodak acknowledged that his team learned a valuable lesson from that match.

The preseason match between Persib Bandung and Western Sydney Wanderers took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium in Bandung Regency.

Bojan explained that the Blue Prince learned a valuable lesson from that encounter with the Australian club: how to face teams at their level, or even above them.

"In the first 30 minutes, we were a little under pressure from them (Western Sydney Wanderers), who played quite well."

"They didn't give us much space. There was a lot of pressure from them," said Bojan Hodak, as quoted on Persib Bandung's official website, Monday, August 4, 2025.

Furthermore, the Croatian coach said the match against Western Sydney Wanderers would be valuable preparation for Persib Bandung, who will be competing in the 2025/2026 Super League and AFC Champions League Two (Asian Champions League Two).

"Yes, of course, this is what I was hoping for. Having a friendly match against a team at a higher level than us."

"This is so that our level continues to improve and we can identify any weaknesses."

"This is what we must improve. We really got what we expected from tonight's friendly match," said Bojan.

After the preseason schedule is complete, Maung Bandung will play the first week of the 2025/2026 Super League season, hosting Semen Padang at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 3:30 PM WIB.

A week later, Bojan Hodak and his players will prepare for the AFC Champions League Two Qualifying playoffs. The Indonesian team will face Manila Diggers, scheduled for August 13, 2025.
