Joao Pedro's Response After Strangled PSG Coach In Club World Cup Final

JAKARTA - Chelsea star Joao Pedro responded to the unpleasant incident he experienced during the 2025 Club Cup final. In the final match, Joao Pedro was strangled by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Luis Enrique.

The unpleasant moment occurred at the end of the final match which was held at the MetLife Stadium, United States, on Monday, July 14, 2025, in the early hours of Indonesian Western Time (WIB). Enrique was caught strangling Joao Pedro until he fell onto the field.

Regarding this incident, it turned out that Joao Pedro didn't want to bother too much. Instead of extending his business with Luis Enrique, he chose to focus on the victory that Chelsea won.

"Everyone wants to win the game and in the end I think they (PSG) are losing their composure."

"However, this is football and this is what happened. Now I have to enjoy the moment because we won the tournament, that's all," said Joao Pedro as quoted by the Independent on Monday, July 15, 2025.

Furthermore, Joao Pedro explained that the incident began when he tried to protect Andrey Santos.

"Like a good Brazilian, I wanted to protect my friend (Andrey Santos). There were a lot of people in the commotion and in the end I got a boost."

"They don't know how to accept defeat, but this is football," he said.

Chelsea managed to make a big surprise in the 2025 Club World Cup final. The Blues beat PSG with a landslide score of 3-0.

Joao Pedro scored Chelsea's third goal, following a pair of goals scored by Cole Palmer earlier.

This victory is somewhat surprising because PSG on paper is more championed to come out as a champion referring to performance during the 2025 Club World Cup.
