Persija Officially Brings Fabio Calonego, Brazil's Atmosphere In The Kian Kental Team

Fabio Calonego became Persija Jakarta's fifth foreign player (doc. Persija).

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta continues to finalize preparations ahead of the 2025/2026 season in early August 2025. Most recently, the Kemayoran Tigers officially announced the joining of Fabio Calonego which adds to the thickness of Brazil's atmosphere in the team.

Calonego will fill the position of Persija Jakarta midfielder as of Thursday, July 10, 2025. Previously, management had also brought in compatriot Calonego, namely Van Basty Sousa, who both played in the midfielder position.

The situation is also similar because they both tested their first experience abroad. Before moving closer to Persija, Calonego never left Brazil by competing in Serie B to Serie C.

He started a professional career with Ypiranga in 2019, then defended Operario-PR (2019-2021), Azuriz (2021-2022), Aimore (2022-2023), and finally strengthened Confianca (2023-2025).

Together with Confianca, Fabio Calonego appeared consistent with recording 62 appearances in all competitions during three seasons. The player who is now 28 years old is ready to meet the expectations of Persija and The Jakmania management.

Being part of Persija Jakarta, Calonego hopes that his presence can have a positive influence on the club.

"I'm ready and 100 percent sure I'm facing a challenge. I can't wait to wear the Persija uniform and meet the fans."

Fabio Calonego is the fifth foreign player that Persija Jakarta has so far. Previously, the Kemayoran Tigers were recorded to have recruited Carlos Eduardo, Gustavo Almeida who was confirmed to be safe, new players Van Basty, and Ryo Matsumura whose fate was hanging.

Ahead of the 2025/2026 season, Calonego became Persija's third new player after Van Basty and Jordi Amat. With so many players released at the end of the season, Persija still has many empty slots that can be used as well as possible for maximum performance.
