JAKARTA The Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI) sent five young athletes from the discipline of leads and boulders to participate in the 2025 ASEAN Championships in Malaysia this week.
The event is scheduled to take place at Putra Jaya, Malaysia, on July 4-6, 2025. This is part of preparations for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025.
"The delivery of this young team is part of the try out program and an important preparation ahead of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand," FPTI wrote in a statement.
The five athletes consisted of three male boulder/leader athletes and two other boulder/lead women's categories.

From the men's sector, there are Muhammad Ramzi Firmansyah, Mahesa Caesar, and Ardana Cical Damarwulan. Meanwhile, for women, the two names sent are Alma Ariella Tsany and Nur Ismatul Sakdia.
The General Secretary of the FPTI, Pristiawan Buntoro, said that the delivery of this young athlete was in line with the target of qualifying for the lead discipline at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"The delivery of athletes to Malaysia for the ASEAN Championships 2025 is our seriousness in building the strength of the Indonesian team in the discipline of leads and boulders," he said.
The 2025 SEA Games in Thailand are scheduled to take place from 9-20 December 2025. A total of 50 sports are competed.
Indonesia will reportedly send 1,548 athletes to the biennial event. However, this number has not been confirmed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) so it may still change.
