JAKARTA - Premier League club Arsenal announced the extension of Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes' contract which will keep him until the summer of 2029.

This extension was announced on Arsenal's official website on Friday, June 6, evening. Gabriel said he was proud to be part of the club even longer.

"I am very proud of myself, this is an amazing journey and I am very happy to be able to continue. I hope to win some trophies with Arsenal because my family and I love this club," said the 27-year-old, quoted by Antara.

Gabriel became one of Arsenal's important players after being brought in from French club Lille in 2020. Gabriel has made 210 appearances in all competitions, and helped Arsenal consistently finish the top two in the last three seasons.

"I came here as a young player and after almost five years, I feel very happy and I've learned a lot," he said.

"Arsenal is an amazing club and I am very proud to be able to sign a new contract. I love his supporters, team-mates and love the stadium. I am very proud and thank you for all the support," Gabriel continued.

In the 2024-2025 season, Gabriel Magalhaes had suffered a hamstring injury during the last two months of the competition.

Gabriel's absence was felt by Arsenal, which saw them out of the championship title competition and eliminated in the 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League semifinals.

Gabriel Magalhaes will enter the 2025-2026 season which was preceded by pre-season to Asia.

Arsenal are scheduled to face AC Milan and Newcastle United in Singapore on July 23 and 27, 2025, before playing North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong on July 31.
