Muhammad Al Imran Gets Gold In Dubai 2025 Badminton

Indonesian badminton athlete, Muhammad Al Imran, made a surprise to win a gold medal at the 6th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2025 (doc. Indonesian NPC).

JAKARTA The athlete of Indonesian badminton, Muhammad Al Imran, made a surprise to win a gold medal at the 6th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2025.

Imran secured the title after beating the world number four from India, Umesh target Kumar, with a score of 21-18, 19-21, and 21-9.

The single title of the SL3 classification men feels very special for Imran because the event marked his debut in international badminton. He had just qualified for SL3 classification in Dubai before the championship took place.

"Alhamdulillah, I was able to enter Pelatnas and yesterday became an international debut. Thank God, I was given sustenance to become first place," said Imran in a statement received.

Imran felt the tension in his first action at international events. Especially the majority of opponents he faced had already tasted international tournaments, especially Umesh target Kumar.

"It's very different (with domestic matches). Overseas matches are very different."

"There is a sense of tension because it's the first time playing internationally. Support from family and friends that makes tensions disappear and I become more confident."

"All the enemies I faced yesterday were also quite heavy, especially on the side of the game. There were from South Korea and opponents in the final from India, but thank God I was able to win the game," he said.

The athlete, who in July 2025 is 22 years old, said that the sport of badminton had only begun to be occupied in 2020. However, at first there was no special training method that Imran was undergoing.

He then won the gold medal when he represented Bogor at the 2022 Regional Paralympic Week (Peparda) in Bekasi. This achievement made him even more serious in badminton.

"After Peparda, I represented West Java at Peparnas 2024 Solo. Alhamdulillah, I got three gold in the national single SL3 class, single elite SL3 and men's team," said Imran.

The coach of Indonesian badminton, Ukun Rukaendi, was not surprised by Imran's achievements. The coaching team saw his great talent when Imran dominated the SL3 class at Peparnas XVII 2024 Solo.

"Actually, it has been predicted that Imran can compete. Thank God, he participated in the classification and qualified for SL3 and was able to donate a gold medal for Indonesia," said Ukun.

The title at the 6th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International 2025 is just an opening. The coaching team will train Imran's durability as a competitive capital at SL3 for higher levels, especially the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.

"I am optimistic, with strong talent, young age and good posture, and looking to have strong desire, practicing discipline, I am optimistic that he can enter the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics," said Ukun.
