House Of Former Liverpool Striker Targeted By Grenade Attack In Israel

JAKARTA - The house of former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Yossi Benayoun in Israel was targeted by grenade attacks.

The former 44-year-old footballer confirmed an explosion at his home to Israel's Ynet news agency.

"We believe it was an exploding gas balloon, there was a pungent smell. Police are investigating, obviously this is a mistake, fortunately no one was injured," he told Ynet.

Ynet said witness testimony showed that a motorcyclist had thrown a grenade at the gate of Benayoun's house and then fled.

Meanwhile, Reuters has also asked for comment from the police.

Apart from that, the former captain of the Israel National Team spent nine years in the Premier League, with duties at West Ham United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Queens Park Rangers.
