Kenny Dalglish Hit Liverpool Squad Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool players were shocked when they heard the news that Kenny Dalglish was positive for COVID-19 or the corona virus. However, they are relieved that now the Reds legend has left the hospital.

Dalglish tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday last week when he came to the hospital to check for gallstone pain. After undergoing brief treatment, he was discharged on Saturday and has to undergo 14 days of self-isolation.

Launching Soccerway, Tuesday, April 14, the news from the Dalglish test results surprised the Liverpool squad. This was disclosed by Klopp.

"It was shocking three days ago when I heard about it (the news that Dalglish had COVID-19) first," Klopp said on Liverpool's official website.

"My kids messaged the WhatsApp group and everyone was shocked.

"How you feel at that moment is a big difference if you know someone who has the virus, or if you don't know it.

"Right now, it's like, 'wow, one of us has COVID-19' and it's really crazy."

Dalglish arrived at Liverpool as a player in 1977 and won six league titles and three European Cups making him player-manager from 1985 to 1990.

Klopp pointed out the closeness between his players and Dalglish, saying: "We all know this terrible disease is hurting the hearts of everyone around the world, but this is the first time for many of us someone with whom we have a personal relationship has been affected so far.

"I've sent a message to one of the daughters. She's pretty, not relaxed, but she's fine and says everything is fine."
