Australian Goalkeeper Admits He Was Worried Against The Indonesian National Team

Australian goalkeeper Matt Ryan admitted that he had made a scene against the Indonesian national team. The meeting between the two teams took place on the seventh matchday of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round on Thursday, March 20, 2025, afternoon WIB.

In the match which took place at the Sydney Football Stadium, the Indonesian national team had controlled the ball and appeared to attack. In fact, there were two opportunities created in the penalty box through Jay Idzes' header and Kevin Diks' penalty kick.

However, Ryan denied the header, while Diks' penalty hit the post. Unfortunately, after those two chances, the Indonesian national team conceded three goals in the first half and two goals in the second half.

Regarding the situation, Ryan explained that things could be different if Indonesia could score a goal first in that match.

"I think to be honest the final score was in our favor. At the start of the first half they had two great chances."

"If they can score goals then the game will be different," Matt Ryan said as quoted by News on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Behind the joy of winning over Indonesia, Ryan regretted his failure to secure the goal from conceding. The Indonesian national team cut the distance through Ole Romeny's goal in the 78th minute.

"There was a bit of disappointment because we couldn't record a clean sheet. I think we could be better, we weren't at our standards yet, but the momentum was leading there."

"We have to learn to be better, rest, and be prepared for the next match," said the player who had dressed up as Arsenal.

After hosting the Indonesian national team, Australia will face China on March 25, 2025 and will face Japan and Saudi Arabia in June 2025.
