Marc Casado Absent Throughout The Season, Adds Barcelona's Injury List

JAKARTA - Barcelona midfielder, Marc Casado, is likely to miss until the end of the season after suffering a right knee injury in a 4-2 win over Atletico Madrid on Monday, March 17, 2025, early morning WIB.

Casado picked up an injury in the first half in Metropolitano but played until midway through the second half, as he was replaced by Eric Garcia.

The 21-year-old had an incredible season under Hansi Flick after being officially promoted to the first team last summer.

He has performed 35 times in all competitions. His performance for the Blaugrana made him make his Spanish debut in November 2024.

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente also called him for this week's UEFA Conference League quarter-final match against the Netherlands, but he was forced to resign and was replaced by Aleix Garcia from Bayer Leverkusen.

Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez has also stepped down from international duty with Spain this week. Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth has been promoted from the Under-21 team to replace him.

"The test has confirmed that Martinez has an annealous lateral meniscus in his right knee."

"He will be treated at Barcelona under the supervision of the club's medical staff," Barcelona said in a statement.

Martinez, who has collaborated with Pau Cubarsi in Barcelona's midfield of defense this season, will be out for a long time.

Meanwhile, Casado's absence saw Flick lose key rotation options in midfield even though he still has Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo available, while Garcia has also been used as a defensive midfielder.

Other Barcelona players who have been absent for a long time are Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal, with defender Andreas Christensen expected to return to training soon.
