Liverpool Vs Tottenham: Djed Spence Sure Can Stop Mohamed Salah

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence said he was confident in his ability to stop Mohamed Salah from scoring as Ange Postecoglu's 1-0 aggregate ahead of Liverpool ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg meeting at Anfield on Friday, February 7, 2025, early morning WIB.

The 24-year-old has found his steps in the Spurs squad which has been hit by injuries over the past two months.

He helped hold the reigning champions in the first leg win in January 2025 and now aims to help his team reach the final.

Tottenham have been hit repeatedly on their back lines, with Radu Dragusin likely missing all season due to an ACL injury. Defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are out.

"I support myself against anyone. (Salah) is a great player and he is in good form."

"However, you have to cancel what he is really good at," Spence told reporters on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Salah, 32, leads the list of Premier League goalscorers with 21 goals, two goals ahead of Erling Haaland (Manchester City).

Spurs capitalized with one win in 11 league games before bounce back in the Premier League with an important 2-0 win at Brentford headquarters.

The pressure is increasing on Postecoglou, with the north London team in 14th position in the league standings.

"It's hard, but we're fighting for the manager. We're fighting for the club and you know, we all believe in what he wants to do," Spence said.

Spence said confidence would be key to reversing Spurs' fate.

"We have to be confident and we have to be ready to fight. Hopefully we can reach the final," he said.
