Darwin Nunez's Brace In The Last Minute Won Liverpool Over Brentford

JAKARTA - Front player Darwin Nunez confirmed as Liverpool's super-sub. Appearing as a substitute, Nunez scored a brace last minute which gave Liverpool a 2-0 win over Brentford in the English Premier League match at the Gtech Community Stadium, Saturday, January 18, 2025 evening WIB.

Brentford put up a fierce fight against Liverpool who previously lost points after a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. Moreover, Brentford seems to have performed confidently. Especially after they successfully detained Manchester City 2-2 in the Premier League match.

The match did make it difficult for the Reds. Even Arne Slot's team really worked hard to face Brentford's strong defense. But Liverpool's efforts finally paid off.

When the match was expected to end in a draw, Nunez, who came in to replace Luis Diaz, managed to break into the host's goal in the last minute.

Nunez's first goal came in the 90+1 minute. This goal started with defender Trent Alexander-Arnold's brilliant pass which managed to dismantle The Bees' defense. Nunez then used this opportunity to complete an assist from Alexander-Arnold.

Nunez also celebrated a goal that gave Liverpool a 1-0 lead by opening the jersey. As a result, he got a yellow card for celebrating the goal.

However, the Uruguayan national team player did not care. Moreover, he scored a brace just two minutes later. Nunez beat goalkeeper Mark Flekken who put The Pool 2-0 up. The score lasted until the game was over.

The win over Brentford confirmed Liverpool's position at the top of the standings. Now, Virgil van Dijk et al are pocketing 47 points. They managed to widen the distance between points to seven with Arsenal who are closest competitors.

Meanwhile, Brentford is still stuck in the middle board. Thomas Frank's team are ranked 11th with 28 points.
