Malaysia Open 2025: Bitter End Dejan/Gloria

Mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in the second round of the Malaysia Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja lost in the second round of the Malaysia Open 2025 marking their bitter end as a couple.

The journey from the fifth seed in this tournament stopped after losing two games 17-21 and 17-21 against Japan's Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, morning WIB.

"We played impatient, today they were difficult to turn off and the meeting. Our attacks continued to be returned and finally made us make mistakes, even in easy balls," said Dejan.

This is their last tournament as a couple. Dejan will then start his new adventure with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Dejan, 23 years old, succeeded in realizing his dream of entering the Cipayung PBSI National Training Center and having to part ways with Gloria. Currently, he and Fadia are on the India Open 2025 waiting list next week.

"I am very grateful for Gloria who wants to help me, want to accompany and want to fight together until this point. Sister Gloria is like a sister to me."

"Remember a long time ago when I was in pairs, I had time to ask for help and ask how to pack abroad. It might be a small thing, but it is very important. That moment I will not forget," said Dejan.

Dejan/Gloria closed the 2024 calendar yesterday without winning the title, but they managed to penetrate into the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 season closing tournament.

Their best result of that year was twice as runners-up, from the Macau Open and the 2024 Korea Masters, respectively.

"This is our last tournament as a couple. A journey that is not easy, up and down, we all live emotionally. Proud of our achievements to this day."

"I can only advise Dejan, keep the spirit, the journey is still long and this is the time to prove it. Finally it can reach its destination, starting again from zero struggles," said Gloria.
