Malaysia Open 2025: Putri KW Revenge To Gregoria

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani managed to take revenge on her senior Gregoria Mariska Tunjung when the two met in the first round of the Malaysia Open 2025.

During the meeting, Putri stopped the bronze medalists at the 2024 Paris Olympics in two straight games 21-8 and 21-14 to reach the second round on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, WIB night.

In this tournament, Indonesia only lowered the two names for the women's singles sector. Unfortunately, they immediately faced each other in the early stages of the tournament.

This result made Putri one of the three Indonesian representatives who had qualified for the round of 16 of the Malaysia Open 2025.

Putri follows the footsteps of mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and women's doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Dejan/Gloria confirmed their place in the round of 16 after winning over the host representatives Wong Tien Ci/Lim Chiew Sin through two straight games, 21-12 and 21-13.

Meanwhile, Lanny/Fadia beat the third seeded pair belonging to host Pearly Tan/Thinah Muralitharan through rubber games 19-21, 21-14, and 21-13.

There are still four other Indonesian representatives who will fight in the first round which will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

They are the men's singles Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, as well as the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
