His Own Mistakes Made PSM Makassar Failed To Win Over PSS Sleman

PSM Makassar had to swallow disappointment after failing to win over PSS Sleman in the 14th week of Liga 1 Indonesia. PSM Makassar coach Bernardo Tavares explained that his team lost because of their own mistakes.

"We have discussed this in the dressing room. So that we don't give many opportunities through set pieces like a corner kick. Because PSS Sleman puts players with high posture in the front lines," said Tavares, quoted from the official website of the Indonesian League, Saturday.

PSM Makassar was actually able to take the lead in the 16th minute thanks to a goal from Aloiso Neto. However, PSS Sleman managed to equalize through Gustavo Tocantins' goal during the additional time of the second half.

The conceding at the last minute was quite regrettable by Tavares, especially since the goal occurred through a set-piece scheme. Despite getting less than optimal results, the Portuguese coach still appreciated the hard work displayed by Yuran Fernandes and his colleagues.

"Now our focus is on preparing for the next game against the team which is also very good," said Tavares.

PSM Makassar goalkeeper Muhammad Ardiansyah revealed that the players felt disappointed because they had to concede in the final minutes of the match. However, he also emphasized that the draw against PSS Sleman spurred himself and his teammates to get better results in the next match.

"My friends and I have tried our best in the field. We have been ahead since the first half, but the opponent scored in the final minutes of the match," explained Ardiansyah. "Thank you for supporting the supporters in Batakan. Now we have to focus on the next match against the team which is also very good. We have to work hard again in preparation. Hopefully the next match we can win," he added.

With this draw, PSM Makassar is still stuck in fifth place in the Indonesian League 1 standings with 23 points from 14 matches, only one point away from the fourth position.
