Discussing Football Developments, Assistant Shin Tae-yong Calls Many Talented Players In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Assistant coach of the Indonesian national team, Choi In-cheol discussed the development of Indonesian football. He later admitted that in Indonesia many talented players could be called up to the Garuda Squad.

Being an assistant coach for the head of the Indonesian national team made Choi synergize directly with the dynamics of football in Indonesia. As far as his involvement is concerned, Choi said the development continues quickly.

"When compared to three years ago when I first came, now there has been a lot of progress."

"Meanwhile, the league is running normally. So, players can be seen directly. Here are many talented players and we continue to hone it," said In-cheol again.

Furthermore, the 52-year-old coach also said that one of the factors that had sufficient influence on the progress of Indonesian football was the good run of domestic competition.

"Even so, Indonesian football can still be improved and the league is one aspect. Development of young people has also started to improve now," said Choi In-cheol.

"The General Chairperson (Erick Thohir) is leading and managing the organization well. This is also what makes the Indonesian national team better now," he said.

With developments leading to a better direction, Choi In-cheol also believes that the progress of the targets of the Indonesian national team and PSSI, including ranking fourth in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, can be achieved.

"Will our targets be achieved? I think so. If you look at the current Indonesian national team, the players are starting to have physical strength and understand tactics," he said.

"Although there are still some shortcomings, several other things have increased rapidly and everything is sustainable. So, I think it's getting better now," said Choi.
