Real Madrid Vs. Getafe: Rise In Bernabeu To Compete On The Top Board Of The Spanish League

JAKARTA - Real Madrid will try to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in the Champions League by continuing their La Liga campaign against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday 1 December.

Los Blancos just lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night, while Getafe will enter the game after a 3-0 win over Manises in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid have lost in their last three of their last five games in all competitions, with a crushing home defeat against Barcelona and AC Milan in late October and early November, before falling 2-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League, which was a proper loss for Carlo Ancelotti's side.

Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty at Anfield, although Mohamed Salah also failed to do the same, and goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo confirmed a two-goal win for Liverpool, which left Real Madrid in 24th place in the Champions League standings, only staying in the playoffs.

However, in La Liga, Los Blancos have won their last two games against Osasuna and Leganes, scoring seven goals without conceding. The result, coupled with a bit of seesaw experienced by Barcelona, made them return to compete at the top of the league standings.

Currently, Real Madrid are in second place in the La Liga standings, four points behind Barcelona with one game less. They now hope to win another three league wins against Getafe, Athletic Bilbao, and Girona before facing a very important Champions League match against Atalanta BC on December 10.

Real Madrid have the best home record in La Liga this season, collecting 18 points from their first seven matches. On the other hand, Getafe struggled in away games, only picking up two of the six games outside of their homes.

Getafe have only won six of their last 38 meetings with Real Madrid in La Liga, and they have not beaten Los Blancos at Bernabeu since February 2008, which shows the magnitude of the challenges they will face this weekend.

Total Bordalmen's side just won 3-0 over Manises in the Copa del Rey to secure their place in the second half, and they also beat Real Valladolid 2-0 in their last league game on 22 November.

With a record of two wins, seven draws, and five defeats to 14 games this season, Getafe have 13 points and are in 15th place in the standings, three points above the relegation zone. Their main problem this season is scoring goals, scoring only 10 goals in 14 league games, which is a shared record worst in the competition. However, they only conceded 11 goals, which is the second best defensive record in the league.

It is certain that Real Madrid will not be strengthened by Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, and David Alaba for this weekend's match.

However, Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo were able to return to the squad after their latest injury problems, while Jude Bellingham, Brahim Diaz, and Mbappe were all in good shape despite doubt after the match against Liverpool.

Lucas Vazquez is expected to return to right-back position, which will move Federico Valverde to midfield, while Dani Ceballos can play in the middle, where Luka Modric will most likely sit on the bench.

Ancelotti could also make changes to the left back, with Fran Garcia likely replacing Ferland Mendy.

Meanwhile, Getafe will lose Carles Alena due to a muscle injury, while Borja Mayoral will likely only be available on the bench due to a muscle injury problem.

Getafe will also lose two important players who are being suspended, namely Bertug Yildirim and Djene Dakonam, who got their fifth yellow card in a league match against Real Valladolid last weekend.

Alvaro Rodriguez, who is loaned from Real Madrid to Getafe, will lead the visitors' front line, after scoring the first goal for Getafe against Real Valladolid.
